Family Photo Sessions at Pasadena City Hall
Pasadena City Hall is a lovely backdrop for family photo sessions.
Pasadena City Hall is one of my favorite places to photograph families. The light is always so soft and lovely at all hours of the day, the architecture is a gorgeous backdrop for any sort of portrait session, and the airy outdoor courtyard space can even accommodate large extended families. I have even discovered that families with mobile littles tend to have an especially fun time actively running amok throughout the city hall grounds. I always get a great workout chasing mentioned highly energized littles and I always leave with a joy-filled photog heart after photo sessions at this lovely Pasadena location.
Why Have an At-Home Newborn Photo Session?
Newborn sessions are all about capturing those first precious days. Why not document it all from the comfort of your own home.
Having an at-home newborn photo session offers numerous benefits that make it an appealing and less stressful option for many new parents. Instead of the posed and prop-heavy style of a studio session, an in-home session focuses on capturing the natural and authentic moments of your family's new life with the newest little arrival.
Here are some of the key advantages of having an at-home newborn photo session:
Ultimate Comfort and Convenience: The postpartum period can be physically and emotionally challenging. The thought of packing up a new baby, a diaper bag full of essentials, and possibly other children to travel to a studio can be overwhelming. An in-home session eliminates this stress, allowing you to stay in the comfort of your own space where everything you need is within arm's reach.
A Relaxed, Stress-Free Environment: You and your family will be more at ease and relaxed in a familiar setting. This can lead to more genuine and authentic photographs. There's no pressure to rush or keep a strict schedule; the session can be paced according to the baby's needs, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, and comforting.
Inclusion of the Whole Family (and Pets!): Your home is a place where your whole family feels comfortable, and this includes older siblings and pets. An at-home session makes it easy to incorporate everyone into the photos, capturing the special connections and interactions between each family member and the new baby.
A Personal and Sentimental Backdrop: Your home is a unique reflection of your family's story. By having the session at home, you can capture memories in the very place where your baby will grow up. The photos can include sentimental elements like the nursery you lovingly prepared, a special family blanket, or a family heirloom, making the images even more meaningful.
Focus on Natural and Candid Moments: Lifestyle photography is all about documenting the real, unposed moments of your family's new life. The photos will capture quiet cuddles on the couch, tender moments of feeding, or a sibling's curious gaze at their new brother or sister. These genuine, heartfelt interactions tell a story that goes beyond a posed portrait.
Flexibility with Timing: While studio sessions often need to be scheduled within the first two weeks of a baby's life to capture the very sleepy, posed look, at-home lifestyle sessions are much more flexible. They work beautifully whether the baby is a few days or a few months old, and can capture beautiful moments of an awake, alert baby as well.

It all begins with an idea.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
